In Malta more modern festive traditions have started to slowly become popular. Similarly, Easter in Malta started off with being a simply a religious feast then along the years it started making way to the more modern tradition of exchanging gigantic chocolate Easter eggs which are especially popular with the younger generations. Having said that, a very common tradition that exists abroad but is not so common in Malta is the Easter egg hunt.

The Easter egg hunt game

The Easter egg hunt is a game during which decorated eggs, real hard-boiled ones or artificial, filled with or made of chocolate, of various sizes, are hidden in various places for children to find. The game may be played basically anywhere, both indoors and outdoors. The game would usually reward for the various achievements, such as the largest number of eggs collected, for the largest or smallest egg etc.
